Day of the Dead Mexico City - 7 Days / 6 Nights Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival Day – Tuesday, 27 October

Welcome to Mexico City! After check-in, meet your tour leader and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner at one of the city's local restaurants. Rest up in your centrally located accommodation.

Day 2 | Historic Center & Templo Mayor – Wednesday, 28 October

Dive into Mexico City's history. Enjoy a guided tour with a local guide, visiting Templo Mayor, the Zócalo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and admire the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Optional evening: Ballet Folklórico (tickets not included).

Day 3 | Xochimilco & Coyoacán – Thursday, 29 October

In the morning, embark on a boat ride along the Xochimilco canals, complete with lunch on a local island (chinampa). Afterwards, visit the artistic streets of Coyoacán.

Day 4 | Day Trip to Teotihuacan – Friday, 30 October

Venture out to the ancient city of Teotihuacan on a guided tour. Climb the Pyramid of the Moon, visit an obsidian workshop, and enjoy a traditional included lunch. Dedicate the afternoon to strolling through the famous neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa. Optional evening: the thrilling Lucha Libre show (tickets not included).

Day 5 | Free Day in Mexico City – Saturday, 31 October

Today is your free day to enjoy the city and its festivities. Due to the nature of the country's government, the exact date and time of the Day of the Dead parades are announced very close to the event, so we may need to make slight adjustments to the itinerary.

Day 6 | Pueblo Mágico & Day of the Dead Celebration – Sunday, 1 November

Head to the Pueblo Mágico of Malinalco to experience the town's Day of the Dead traditions. Wander through streets filled with altars, decorations, candles, and a festive atmosphere unlike anywhere else.

Day 7 | Departure – Monday, 2 November

Departure day, or continue your journey with our Cuernavaca & Puebla Extension (2–6 November, with departure from Mexico City on 6 November). If you choose to finish your adventure today, we recommend either adding an extra night in Mexico City (we can assist with the reservation) or booking a flight departing after 6:00 PM.

Group Size & Confirmation
This tour requires a minimum of 4 travelers. Once 4 spots are filled, the departure is confirmed and you can book your flights. If the group isn’t full yet, the final confirmation date is 60 days before the tour starts well in time to secure travel plans.

Pace & Physical Level
Easy – suitable for most travelers. Expect walking, occasional stairs, and standing during tours. No strenuous activity is required, though there is plenty of walking to explore the sites.

Day of the Dead Note
Mexico City’s Day of the Dead events parades and street celebrations are announced close to the date. If they occur during the tour, the schedule will be adjusted where possible so travelers can participate, but attendance cannot be guaranteed.
